Introducing “Kolotoč”, the upcoming single by David Farnon.

Kolotoč is the Czech and Slovak word for a Carousel, or Merry Go Round. This concert piece for full orchestra and accordion is meant as a tribute to the spirit, courage, bravery, character and resilience of the peoples of central Europe. For them the past centuries have been a nightmarish Merry Go Round of brutality, war, oppression and occupation by predatory larger nations, interspersed with periods of peace, self government, freedom and independence. Hapsburgs, Napoleon, Nazis and Russians have all invaded them but still they have managed to survive as nations and peoples and their cultures and ways of life have remained defiant, irrepressible and intact. The piece ends optimistically as their destinies are once again safely in their own hands. May they continue to flourish.
